The first thing I found intriguing about the second half of the book is how Franklin put in an hourly schedule. Some things in this schedule that suggest characteristics that might be good for scientist his he asks himself everyday “what good shall I do...” and “what good have I done…” and he also reads during his lunch break. Him asking these questions allow him to be self-aware, will make each day matter rather than falling into a repetitive dull day, and will make it easier to set and reach goals. The fact he reads during lunch could just because it’s a hobby but it also shows that me makes the time for things he finds important whereas most people on a lunch break would try to read they would say they don’t have time.
The next thing I thought to be different about Franklin is he didn’t show much emotion when he quickly talked about the death of his son. I can’t assume he was emotionless but I found it strange he talked so little about it. Based on the reading it seemed like his mind was more in business and politics. I also wonder if him writing so little is because of his change in writing style because he has now changed from writing for his sons to the public.
I believe that scientist server society and should strive to help society as best as they can. I think Franklin shows he want to better society when he didn’t paten the stove. He also server society with his idea of building a hospital and his drafting of the bill to get it funded. He also showed he just wants these inventions to be out there and doesn’t care if he gets all the credit because he points out he was wrongfully getting full credit for the hospital idea.

Finley we got to the part where Franklin talks about electricity and lightning. It’s a story everyone knows yet still important to point out again. He believed there to be electricity in lightning but this idea was so crazy other well respected scientist laughed at it until Franklin was able to get enough information to publish it in a paper. It was only printed in a pamphlet and that was translated to few languages. A man in Paris was able to get his hands on it and basically took credit for coming up with the idea electricity is in lightning by doing his own experiment. Franklin could have got in a fight to try to get his rightful credit but choose to not waste his time on it. In his words he’d rather spend time “…making new experiments, then in disputing about those already made”. This again shows he just wanted to find truth and to better society along with showing you should never give up if someone laughs at you or tells you you’re wrong.
